The installed electric capacity in 2006 was 49 GW. Of installed capacity, 73.6 was thermal, 21.6 is hydroelectric, 2.8 is nuclear and 2 is geothermal. The general trend in thermal generation is a reduction in fuel base oil and an increase in natural gas and coal.,
The total generation this year was 223.6 TWh, with 78.6 from conventional thermal sources, 13.6 from hydro sources, nuclear power 4.9 and 3 from geothermal sources .
The expansion covered by SENER for the period 2006-2015 includes the incorporation of 23,933 MW for the public service: 23,545 MW to CFE (Commission Federal de Electricidad) and 448 MW for LFC (Luz y Fuerza Center). The self and cogeneration also join other 619 MW of new capacity. IDT Energy Savings The total installed capacity in 2015 was estimated to be 66,599 MW. 51.4 of the additional capacity will be a combined cycle and 9.6 will be TERMOELECTRICA production. It is also important to note that natural gas provided 61.1 of the fuel .
